31-year-old man found dead near Red Lobster dumpster, officials say

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB/Gray News) - A man in Georgia was found dead behind an old Red Lobster, according to authorities.

The man found dead behind the old Red Lobster in Albany has now been identified as 31-year-old Jarrod Lamar Holden.

According to the incident report, officers responded after getting a report about a “man down.” When they got there, they found a man dead near the area of the dumpster.

In the report, officers say the man was wearing jeans, a white sock on his right foot, a black sock on his left foot and no shirt. His head was reportedly hanging off a mattress he was lying on. There were a number of pieces of clothing strewn around the area; officers believe the man may have lived in the area.

Officers also noted a lot of flies around the body and discoloration on the face and fingers.

The coroner then went to the scene and pronounced the man dead. When crews moved the body, they discovered what appeared to be a hole in his head. At that point, homicide detectives were called out to the scene.

Investigators talked to a nearby homeowner, who said he has seen a number of people going in and out of the area where the man was found dead. The homeowner noted seeing a woman in the area on Sept. 21 around 3 p.m.

He said she was wearing a yellow shirt and blue bottoms. Officers then spoke to a woman matching this description, who said she was in the area near the old Red Lobster “a week ago,” and that she hadn’t seen the victim in about a week.

She told investigators the man was recently released from prison.
