Some iPhone users could get up to $95 in Apple settlement. Here’s how to file a claim

(Gray News) - If you own an iPhone, you may be eligible for part of a class-action settlement related to Siri’s AI rollout.

Apple was accused of falsely advertising Siri’s advanced features before they were ready. According to the settlement’s website, customers expected the products to have certain AI features but didn’t receive them.

The tech company denied any wrongdoing but did agree to pay $250 million to settle claims.

Customers who purchased an iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max or any 16 model between June 2024 and March 2025 can file a claim. The person filing the claim must be the original person who purchased the phone and cannot have purchased it for the sake of reselling it.

To file a claim, customers can visit the settlement’s website, SmartphoneAISettlement.com. They will need to provide basic information such as their name, number and address, as well as their iPhone’s serial number. Their phone’s serial number can be found in the phone’s settings.

Approved claims could receive up to $95 per device, with the average payout being about $25. The exact amount won’t be known until all the claims are evaluated. According to the settlement’s site, customers can opt to have the payment be sent as a physical or digital check.

Claims must be filed by Dec. 21.

It’s unknown when customers who filed claims will receive their money.

A district court in California will hold a hearing on Feb. 24, 2027, to decide whether to approve the settlement. If the settlement is approved, there could be appeals, which take time. If there are no appeals, the payments would be processed promptly.
