Police officer, wife accused of exploiting elderly man of $74,000 for concerts, trips and personal expenses

ALVA, Okla. (Gray News) - A police officer in Oklahoma and his wife are accused of exploiting an 82-year-old man.

Alva Police officer Andrew McVicker and Abbigale McVicker were arrested and charged with exploitation of an elderly person and conspiracy, authorities announced.

According to a press release, the investigation began in March, when the Oklahoma Department of Human Services Adult Protective Services received information about possible exploitation of the elderly man in Alva.

Investigators learned that the McVickers had moved into the man’s home in 2023. Andrew McVicker was added to the man’s bank accounts and named as his power of attorney, officials said.

Authorities determined that McVicker withdrew nearly $15,900 from the victim’s bank accounts between April 2025 and May 2026. They also found more than $25,000 in transfers made through the Cash App from McVicker to his wife between January 2024 and March.

Those transfers were made “without the victim’s knowledge or consent,” according to the OSBI. Investigators estimated the total financial exploitation of the victim at more than $74,000.

The investigation uncovered evidence that the alleged spending went well beyond ordinary household expenses.

KOCO reported that credit card records showed purchases involving restaurants, online retailers, salons, movie theaters, antique auctions, a cruise, trips to Mexico and concert tickets.

Investigators also found a deed that would have transferred ownership of the elderly man’s home to McVicker after his death.

Authorities described the elderly victim as a vulnerable adult who was “barely able to walk and did not appear to be taking care of his hygiene,” KOCO reported.

During an interview, the man was unable to tell investigators whether he had given the couple permission to use his credit card for the purchases.

While Andrew McVicker remains employed by the Alva Police Department, he was placed on administrative leave “pending the outcome of the investigation,” the OSBI said.

The city of Alva said it was aware of the allegations and would cooperate with the investigation.

The McVickers were released after each posted a $20,000 bond, records show. They are scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 13.
