BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - The Next 24 Hours: We’re expecting another beautiful fall day across central Alabama, with plenty of sunshine and afternoon temperatures climbing into the mid to upper 70s. Skies should stay clear tonight, which should allow temperatures to drop into the 40s by early Thursday morning, with some of our cooler spots possibly dipping into the mid 40s. Thursday looks like more of the same, with abundant sunshine and highs likely reaching the upper 70s.

The Next Big Thing: The big weather story is expected to be the extended stretch of dry weather, with high pressure likely keeping rain chances very low through the rest of the workweek and into next week. With no meaningful rain in sight, drought conditions could worsen across parts of the coverage area. Because of the dry ground and low humidity, this would be a good time to avoid any outdoor burning, as fires could spread quickly.

The Weekend: Saturday looks like another nice fall day, with a mixture of sunshine and a few clouds and highs should be a little cooler, likely reaching the lower to mid 70s, with temperatures falling back into the 40s Saturday night. Sunday should be equally pleasant, with partly to mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid 70s. Looking ahead to Monday and Tuesday, the quiet and dry weather pattern seems likely to continue, with highs in the mid 70s and overnight lows generally in the upper 40s.
