Man indicted in 2025 arson at Birmingham Housing Authority apartment

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - A man has been indicted on an arson charge after he allegedly caused a fire at a Birmingham Housing Authority apartment.

The fire happened on Monday, Jan. 6, 2025, at a Birmingham Housing Authority apartment along 8^th Court North and 46^th Street North, just down the road from Kingston Elementary School.

According to past reporting, first responders originally believed there were people trapped inside the apartment, which led to a heavy response on the scene around 5:15 a.m. However, a neighbor was able to contact the people living there and learned they were somewhere else on Sunday night into Monday morning.

The fire itself was contained to a single unit, and no other apartments were affected. No one was injured in the fire.

Adarius Savage, Sr was arrested in connection to the fire and a Jefferson County grand jury indicted him on an arson charge.
