First Alert Weather: Sunny skies, pleasant temperatures today; warmer weather ahead

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Good morning!

The Next 24 Hours: We’re off to a cool start this Sunday morning, but plenty of sunshine should make for a beautiful day across central Alabama. By midmorning, temperatures should be climbing through the upper 50s and lower 60s, reaching the upper 60s around lunchtime.

Afternoon highs should reach the lower-to-mid-70s, with a light easterly breeze.

Skies should remain mostly clear tonight, with temperatures falling into the upper 40s and lower 50s by Monday morning.

The Next Big Thing: Our stretch of pleasant, mainly dry weather should continue throughout the upcoming workweek. Monday brings another nice day with plenty of sunshine and afternoon temperatures in the mid-70s.

Tuesday and Wednesday should feature a mixture of sunshine and occasional clouds, with highs in the mid-to-upper 70s. Morning temperatures will generally remain in the 40s and lower 50s.

A gradual warming trend should become more noticeable on Thursday and Friday, with afternoon temperatures climbing into the upper 70s and perhaps reaching 80 degrees in a few locations. Rain chances remain very limited throughout the workweek, although the continued dry weather may increase fire concerns.

The Weekend: Looking ahead to next weekend, temperatures should remain warmer than what we’re experiencing this morning. Afternoon highs may reach the upper 70s to around 80 degrees Saturday, with a mixture of sunshine and clouds.

Most of the weekend looks mainly dry, with only slim rain chances at this point.
