BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Hi all!

THIS EVENING: I hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday! We had another beautiful fall day across the state with plenty of sunshine and temperatures in the 70s once again. We’re continuing to see cooler and drier air moving in from the east, bringing comfortable conditions if you’ve been outside. It’s going to cool down a bit for the overnight hours, so don’t forget a jacket or sweatshirt as you head out tonight. Temperatures will dip to the 60s throughout the evening, and eventually fall to the upper 40s overnight. We could also see some patchy fog develop near rivers and lakes late tonight into early tomorrow morning.

NEXT 48 HOURS: We’ve got these fall conditions sticking with us throughout the rest of the weekend with plenty of sunshine and temperatures in the mid-70s for the most part. Sunday is looking fantastic for the YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway! We’ll start the morning in the 40s before warming into the mid 70s during the afternoon. You can expect sunny skies with a few clouds possible later in the day. Winds will stay light out of the ENE around 5–10 mph. Monday will bring more of the same with another cool morning and a comfortable afternoon in the 70s. One thing we do need to keep in mind is the continued fire danger. Please avoid outdoor burning and be extra careful with anything that could spark a fire.

THIS WEEK: We’re still not tracking any rain chances over the next few days. High pressure will keep us mostly dry through the upcoming workweek. Highs will primarily stay in the mid to upper 70s with cooler mornings in the 40s. A few of our eastern counties have a small chance of dipping into the upper 30s by Tuesday morning, with most areas staying in the 40s. I know these dry and sunny conditions are a sight for sore eyes, but we could definitely use some rain. This long dry stretch is still a concern, with drought conditions across parts of Central Alabama still around. Looking toward the end of next week, our weather pattern may finally start to change. High pressure will begin to weaken as another weather system approaches from the west. This could bring a small warmup before our next cold front. Some long-range model guidance suggests rain could make a comeback during the first few days of November. The timing and amount of rainfall is still up in the air, as it’s still too far out. For now, Halloween is trending mainly dry with temperatures likely staying above average. Don’t forget that Daylight Saving Time ends next Sunday, November 1! We’ll be setting our clocks back one hour.
