Doss, 27, a DCH Regional Medical Center nurse, died during an attempted robbery in the hospital’s parking lot Tuesday. She leaves behind a husband and two young children.

Concerned citizens have organized a prayer vigil in her memory. Whitney Neal, one of the organizers, said the situation moved her and others to take action.

“We are a community. And when you are a community, you’re supposed to stick together and be a family. And I want to let the family know they’re not alone. And the community is standing with them,” Neal said. “I’m a mother myself and it would be heartbreaking if I didn’t return back to my children. So my prayers are with her family. And its important for them to know the community is behind them.”

The vigil will take place Saturday at 10 a.m. at Snow Hinton Park off McFarland Boulevard. People will gather on the side of the park next to Chick-fil-A and Bowlero.

Rev. Matthew Wilson, a former Tuscaloosa City Councilman, will lead the prayer vigil.
