Man accused of shooting Scottsboro lieutenant waives preliminary hearing
SCOTTSBORO, Ala. (WAFF) - An upcoming court appearance has been waived by the man accused of shooting a Scottsboro police officer.
Daniel McCarn was arrested in July after a 24-hour-long manhunt.
Investigators say McCarn shot Scottsboro Police Lieutenant Derek Porch following a car chase.
On Wednesday, a preliminary hearing was scheduled for McCarn.
His attorneys told the judge that they will allow the case to move forward to the grand jury instead.
It’s unknown how long it could take before the case goes to a grand jury.
Porch underwent multiple surgeries for his injuries but returned home in August.
