BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - We’re only months away from the opening of the new Coca-Cola amphitheater in Birmingham and construction continues moving along.

While crews are still moving dirt, buildings are coming up and the amphitheater is coming together. They are a lot further along than when they started work back in June 2024.

BJCC Executive Director Tad Snider says construction is still on schedule and should be complete by the end of May.

The very first show is set for June 22 with comedian Matt Rife, then the Dave Matthews Band, Thomas Rhett, Jason Isbell, and Luke Bryan to follow.

Snider says thanks to Live Nation, the amphitheater is going to have a very active first season which will bring people from all over to enjoy.

“The great thing is we’re going to have an exciting new venue for the community here in downtown right in the area of the BJCC that we know everybody’s going to be proud of and when you’re sitting in the bowl, sitting in the area looking at the stage for that first show, you’re going to have an amazing skyline of Birmingham,” said Snider.

BJCC will be sharing more announcements over the next few months about things like navigating traffic and parking.

Snider says they plan on pre-selling a lot of parking spots.
