New Smucker’s facility opens in west Jefferson Co.

MCCALLA, Ala. (WBRC) - On Thursday, Nov. 7, the brand new Smucker‘s facility officially opened in McCalla. The facility is now the brand’s largest and will support the production of Uncrustables.

Nicole Newell, the Operations Director for JM Smucker, said the plant will help introduce their products into more homes.

“It also allows us to bring more Uncrustables into homes that we weren’t always able to service because we only had the two plants. So we are growing and getting bigger, and also it’s just gonna be a great investment for our people as they grow and develop with this brand.”

The company estimates that the facility will bring in $1 billion by the end of 2026.

The facility is aiming to create more jobs in west Jefferson County, with nearly 400 employees already on board.

Commissioner Jimmie Stephens said this is a life-changing investment.

“We’re talking about jobs, good-paying Smucker jobs. If you follow Smucker, they are a great corporate citizen. They will fit into this community and be a vital part of this community moving forward,” said Stephens.
