BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - ?Birmingham city officials are putting food on the move.
Mayor William Bell announced the mobile food bus initiative Monday in Pratt City.
Residents will soon see a former Max bus transformed into a mobile food truck. This bus serves as a mobile food unit for area food deserts around the city.
The bus will drive around the city offering meats, vegetables, canned goods and anything you would usually find in the grocery store.
Residents in Pratt City said it's another sign the city is moving forward.
"It's very important. We're moving in the right direction. Making Pratt a better area. More family-friendly and having new developments to come to the area. Especially with the veterans complex. It's moving in the right direction," said Ellen Spencer, Pratt City Community President.
The city plans to roll out the first bus in the next three months. They hope to launch three more buses within the next year.
