Former Tuscaloosa teacher arrested for sexual contact with student

TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) - A former Bryant High School English teacher has been arrested for allegedly having sexual contact with a student.

Reginald Swanson, Jr., a 22-year-old man from Pinson, is accused of having sexual contact with a 16-year-old male student. Tuscaloosa police said the incident happened in a classroom during school hours on September 16.

Swanson reportedly resigned from his job in September and turned himself in to Tuscaloosa police on Friday, October 3 after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Tuscaloosa Police Juvenile investigators arrested him around 10:54 a.m. Friday.

Swanson is charged with one count of school employee having sexual contact with a student under the age of 19. He was booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $1,000 bond.

Bryant High School is in the Tuscaloosa City Schools system.
