3 William E. Donaldson correctional sergeants arrested for allegedly failing to act on advanced assault warning
BESSEMER, Ala. (WBRC) - Three sergeants assigned to the William E. Donaldson Correctional Facility have been arrested after an investigation, the Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) said Saturday.
ADOC officials said the investigation stemmed from an incident Oct. 25 where an inmate was physically assaulted by other inmates after correctional supervisors received an advance warning of the assault.

Authorities said investigations determined that correctional sergeants Neicko White, Michael Underwood, and Devontay Jackson failed to take reasonable protective measures after receiving the advanced notice of the assault.
After findings were presented to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office, Bessemer Division, the ADOC said criminal charges of failure of duty or violation of law by guard were authorized against all three sergeants.

Authorities said White and Jackson were taken into custody Nov. 5 and Underwood was taken into custody Nov. 6. All three officers were taken to the Jefferson County Jail, Bessemer Division, with bond set at $3,000 each by the issuing magistrate.
