First Alert Weather Days for frost Sunday, Monday mornings
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - First Alert Weather Days have been declared for the first frost of the season on Sunday and Monday mornings. Temperatures will drop into the upper 30s in far northern areas, with 40s for most locations by Saturday morning.

Frost won’t be a major concern Saturday morning, but Sunday morning we could see low to mid-30s, with near-freezing temperatures in outlying areas farther north. Plan for frost and take measures to protect sensitive plants. Also, with some of the coldest mornings of the season settling in, check on your pets. We will have more frost early Monday.

Other than the colder mornings, we have a beautiful November weekend ahead. Fall colors are really starting to show off across the state, and they will reach peak levels over the next two weeks. Plan for a mostly sunny sky Saturday and Sunday, with highs in the 60s. A north wind at 5 to 15 mph on Saturday will also make it feel even cooler at times.

NEXT WEEK: Another stretch of mostly dry weather is expected as the drought holds strong. The upper-level pattern starts to change somewhat by midweek, as a southern-stream system could squeeze out a few showers late Tuesday and Tuesday night. Otherwise, partly cloudy weather is expected through Veterans Day, with another cold start in the 40s and highs near 70°.

We will be tracking another cold front that could arrive by next Friday and bring another big drop in temperatures. I’m not seeing much rain, but there were some showers showing up in the data across far northern Alabama, along with some signals of a few snow showers over the higher elevations of the Smoky Mountains. We have only a 20% chance of a shower in the forecast, with dry weather and colder conditions for the weekend of Nov. 14. Expect highs in the 60s, with more frost and near-freezing temperatures.
