First Alert Weather: Chilly weekend mornings ahead

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - THIS MORNING: Happy Friday! We’ve made it to the weekend and to some pretty nice fall weather ahead of us. Patchy fog has developed early this morning across some of our NE counties, but that will clear up pretty quickly through the rest of the late morning. Expect plenty of sunshine this afternoon with a few clouds here and there. High temperatures will reach the low to mid 70s for most spots this afternoon. That breeze from the north will continue through the day, bringing us a chilly weekend ahead.

NEXT 48 HOURS: While it will be a bit cooler, this weekend looks like a great one to be outside. We will continue to see lots of sunshine with dry conditions and highs in the mid to upper 60s. Definitely want to make sure to have a jacket handy for the early morning and late evening hours. The biggest story for this weekend is the frost potential early Sunday and Monday. This would be our first frost of the season! This looks more likely for our northern counties by Monday morning. If you’ve still got sensitive plants outside, I’d bring them indoors or cover them up before Saturday night!

THIS WEEK: It looks like these chilly mornings are sticking with us for the near future, with lows in the upper 30s to mid-40s through the next 7 days. Our weather pattern continues to stay quiet through next week. Most of us will stay dry, with a few sprinkles possible by Tuesday with another weak disturbance moving through. Regardless, this won’t bring much rainfall to the area. This isn’t the best news for our drought situation in parts of central Alabama, but good news for those with outdoor Veterans Day activities on Wednesday! Another frontal boundary could bring some slight rain chances by Thursday, but it’s still a bit far out. We’ll continue to monitor that and the rest of your forecast this week.
