BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - THE NEXT 24 HOURS: Temperatures will tumble into the 40s for Friday morning lows, but you won’t need the jacket for long! We have another beautiful day ahead, with highs near 80º and a northeast wind at 4-8 mph. Evening temperatures will be tumbling into the 60s and eventually the upper 50s by the end of the high school games Friday night.

THE WEEKEND: No major changes for the weekend, with lows in the 40s and highs in the 70s. We will have a light northeast breeze Friday, becoming easterly for Saturday and Sunday. Otherwise, more sunshine is expected. This weather will be perfect for all of the events happening. From Talladega to college football and the fall festivals, if you are attending any of these events, just remember the hat and sun protection. It may be autumn, but the UV index is still peaking around a level 5 to 6. Even at those levels, you can get a sunburn in as little as 15 to 20 minutes.

NEXT WEEK: The final week of the month will feature mostly dry weather, but changes are coming for Halloween weekend. The pattern of cold mornings in the 40s, with highs in the 70s will continue through next Friday. The sky will be mostly sunny through the middle of next week, with a few high clouds. More clouds will mix with the sunshine by Thursday and Friday.

Next weekend will bring our next chance for rain. Guidance has been signaling a chance for rain on November 1st, but some guidance today has trended earlier, with the possibility of some wet weather Halloween night. I’ve included a chance for showers for Halloween, with a better chance on November 1st. I certainly wouldn’t change any plans at this early stage, as the forecast could change quite a bit. However, confidence is increasing in wet weather chances for next weekend.
