HAPPY VALLEY, Ore. (KPTV/Gray News) — Three people found shot to death inside an Oregon home on Tuesday have been identified, along with the person who police say is responsible.

According to Happy Valley police, 78-year-old Patricia Lynn Campbell, 47-year-old Katie Lynn Kinder and 15-year-old Evan Scott Kinder were found dead inside their home after officers were called to the residence for a welfare check.

Officers said the welfare check was requested after Kinder did not show up to work.

Neighbors told officers they had not seen anyone at the house for a few days.

The Clackamas County Medical Examiner’s Office said Wednesday autopsies showed all three died from gunshot wounds.

Detectives named 45-year-old Edward Villa as the person believed to be responsible for the family members’ murders.

Police said Villa was Kinder’s boyfriend and lived at the home with her, her son and her mother.

Villa was found dead Wednesday in a motel room at the South Jetty Inn in Hammond of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Warrenton police.

Members of the U.S. Marshals Service found him after officers watched his car at the motel.

Officials said Villa had worked for the North Clackamas School District since 2007, most recently as a student and community engagement specialist. The district said he did not show up for work Wednesday.

In a statement, family members said they lost a mother, a sister and a nephew. They described Campbell as someone who helped hold the family together and who was loved as a mother and grandmother.

Loved ones described Kinder as a loving aunt who brought joy and laughter to the family. They said Evan was young and had his whole life ahead of him.

“There are no words strong enough to describe the pain, grief, and devastation we are feeling,” the family shared in part.

The family asked for privacy as they grieved and thanked the community for support.

Villa’s ex-wife, Tiffany Villa, said they share a son and her main concern is his well-being.
