BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Following a gritty, rainy comeback win over Louisiana-Monroe Saturday, UAB head football coach Alex Mortensen emphasized that continuing their momentum comes down to preparation, discipline, and daily execution rather than resting on the final score.

“We want momentum, we want more wins, abs- absolutely, of course” said Mortensen after Wednesday’s practice. “So what, what creates that? Better detail, better preparation. So that’s really what we’re looking for this week is just to improve how we practice and get a little bit sharper and a little more detailed.”

Mortensen praised his squad’s resilience after falling behind early last week, noting the Blazers stayed composed, dominated the fourth quarter 13–0, and leaned on a ground attack that racked up 266 rushing yards while holding their opponent to just three second-half points. The victory brought the Blazers’ record to 1-1.

With American Athletic Conference action just around the corner, Mortensen dismissed any temptation to look past their immediate test, keeping all eyes fixed on this week’s challenging non-conference road game against the Ragin Cajuns.

While appreciative of fans who supported the team through bad weather last Saturday, Mortensen urged fans to come out next Friday when the Blazers are back in town to open conference play against Navy
