The driver, later identified as Kenyon Joiner, of Villa Rica, Ga., did not stop, initiating the chase along Highway 157. Police said that during the pursuit, Joiner at times drove down the wrong side of the road, turn his headlights off and throw things from the 2012 Nissan Maxima.

CPD officer Jake Lambert disabled one of the car’s tires with spike strips. Sergeant Zane Pounders, also using spike strips, disabled the remaining tires and brought the chase to an end.

With help from Cullman County Sheriff’s deputies, Joiner was taken into custody.
