Senator Tommy Tuberville rules out debate with Doug Jones in Alabama governor’s race
LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WAFF) - Limestone County residents learned about what’s going on in Washington on Wednesday from Senator Tommy Tuberville.
The senator stopped in Athens to share updates and discuss key issues affecting the state’s economy and communities.
One question everyone had on their mind was whether Tuberville will meet his gubernatorial opponent, Doug Jones, for an open town hall or a debate.
Senator Tuberville said he wouldn’t debate Jones because they won’t agree on anything.
“Probably not. There’s so much difference between us. I mean, there’s no reason to get up there and argue about differences of opinion,” Senator Tuberville said.
“We know where the Democrats stand. We know where conservative Republicans stand, and I don’t think there’s any reason to get into any kind of debate about that because there’s really no debate. It’s just a difference of opinion.”
Senator Tuberville and Jones will go head-to-head on the ballot November 3.
