Aliceville High School launches AI instructional tool funded by $900K state grant

ALICEVILLE, Ala. (WBRC) - Aliceville High School has launched an artificial intelligence app called Teacher AI, funded by a $900,000 Chance Grant through the Alabama Department of Education.

The tool is described as a personalized instructional assistant designed to complete tasks that can take teachers hours, in minutes.

Representatives from Cloud Tech Academy trained teachers on the new system ahead of the school year. The company’s co-founder, Cameron Hairston, said the app automatically aligns lesson plans with federal mandates and updates without requiring teachers to search through large volumes of documents.

“All the federal mandates automatically align, automatically updates so they don’t have to search through hundreds of documents to make sure their lesson plans automatically align,” Hairston explained. “It’s all built in now, it’s all automatic. It’s probably going to help them save hours and hours each week.”

Barry Hill Jr., principal of Aliceville High School, said the technology is intended to benefit both teachers and students.

“You know everything today is revolving around technology. So, we thought bringing that aspect to the educational setting would not only spark our students’ interest but also help them achieve at another level,” Hill said.

Students at Aliceville High School and surrounding Pickens County returned to school on Thursday, Aug. 6. Cloud Tech Academy trainers are expected to work with students on Teacher AI later in the school year.
