HOOVER, Ala. (WBRC) - An investigation is underway after a Hoover High School operation’s department employee was arrested and charged with distribution of obscene matter, according to school leaders.

School officials say that they were notified that the employee was arrested by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA). The employee was immediately placed on administrative leave and prohibited from all Hoover City Schools properties.

“The district is cooperating with ALEA in their investigation as the safety and well-being of our students and staff are our highest priority. We have no reason to believe that any of our students were involved, and there is no indication of any impact on school safety,” wrote school officials.

ALEA identified the suspect as Darrell W. Alldredge, 51, of Odenville.

According to ALEA, the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit, executed a search warrant as part of an ongoing investigation.

Law enforcement only shared that Alldredge was found and arrested in the 1000 block of Buccaneer Drive in Hoover. Property records show this is Hoover City Schools property.

Alldredge is booked in the Jefferson County Jail and charged with two counts of dissemination of obscene matter.

According to court documents, the obscene matter included two victims, both girls. One girl was under the age of 16 and one was under the age of 3.

“We understand that situations like this can be concerning. We will continue to partner with local and state law enforcement as we remain focused on maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment for all students and staff,” Hoover High School officials said in a statement.

This is an ongoing investigation. More updates will be shared as they become avaliable.
