CALERA, Ala. (WBRC) - Calera Police are shouting out the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) after the two agencies worked together to stop what they say was a “reckless driver.”

According to police, just after 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 21, the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office responded to calls of a vehicle traveling north on Interstate-65. Authorities say the driver was reported to be driving recklessly and endangering other drivers.

The Chilton County Sheriff’s Office says their deputies found the car and tried to pull the driver over. However, the driver refused to stop and then drove north into Shelby County.

According to law enforcement, Calera officers spiked the suspect’s tires at exit 228 and were able to stop the vehicle. From there, the driver was taken into custody by the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office.

“Great work CCSO, Chilton County E-9-1-1, Calera Dispatch, and Calera Night Shift Patrol! This is how it is supposed to work. We are fortunate to have excellent law enforcement partners in Chilton County,” wrote Calera Police Chief David Hyche.
