Court records: Suspect shot 3 people in less than 3 weeks
EUTAW, Ala. (WBRC) - Eddie Jordan, Jr, the suspect who escaped Birmingham Police custody and was in the wind for nearly 2 weeks was recaptured in Eutaw, Alabama Tuesday.
New court records accuse Jordan of killing two people and shooting one other in less than three weeks in early 2025.
Jordan is charged with capital murder in the death of Buford White. Court documents report Jordan shot White on January 22, 2025. Two weeks later, police say Jordan was in a gunfight and killed Demarious Cherry. He’s charged with felony murder in that case. Four days later, Jordan reportedly shot into a house, hitting one person, prompting a first-degree assault charge along with shooting into an occupied dwelling.
Jordan is also charged with third-degree escape after fleeing police custody. U.S. Marshals arrested Jordan on April 23, 2025 following a brief foot chase in Birmingham. He was transported to UAB to be evaluated, where he escaped.
It’s unclear if all of the shootings are unrelated.
Jordan was taken to the Jefferson County Jail after his arrest Tuesday morning. He is being held without bond.
Remeon Lewis of Birmingham is also charged with murder in death of Demarious Cherry. He was arrested in February.

Javaris Russell Jr., 19, is also charged with capital murder in the death of Buford White. He taken into custody in April by U.S. Marshals in the 4300 block of 11th Avenue North in Birmingham’s Kingston neighborhood.
