RUSTON, La. (WBRC) - In a high stakes Conference USA matchup in Louisiana Saturday, Jacksonville State pulled off their best Aaron Rodgers impression to take down Louisiana Tech in wild fashion.

The Gamecocks came into the matchup 5-3 on the season and were looking to make themselves bowl eligible for the second consecutive season.

It was an offensive affair between the two sides after they both scored in the first quarter, followed by three more JSU scores in the 2nd quarter and two more from the Bulldogs to make it a 28-21 Gamecock lead at the half.

The 3rd quarter however was all LTU as they held JSU to 0 points while adding 9 of their own to carry a 2-point lead into the 4th quarter.

The Gamecocks were down for most of the final frame.... until the improbable happened.

Down to the very last second on the last play of the game, JSU was on the LTU 49-yard line when Gamecock QB let one fly.... and found his WR Cam Vaughn all by himself behind the defense in the end zone.

A Hail Mary to tie the game on the very last play of the game!

Unfourtnently, JSU would miss the game-tying extra point, sending the game into overtime.

Despite missing the extra point, JSU RB Tre Stewart took an 11-yard carry into the end zone before his defense stopped LTU on 4th down in OT, giving the Gamecocks a 44-37 win and making them bowl eligible for the second consecutive year.

JSU will be back at home next week taking on Florida International.
