Samford baseball head coach, pitcher honored by Alabama Baseball Coaches Association

HOMEWOOD, Ala. (WBRC) - Two members of the Samford baseball program were honored last week by the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association for their recent contributions.

Bulldogs HC Tony David was named the Head Coach of the Year after a 2024 season that saw Samford go 36-22, a 2nd place SoCon regular season finish, and an appearance in the SoCon Tournament Finals.

Samford pitcher Michael Ross was honored by the organization after setting a Samford record of 13 wins last season, which tied him for the most wins in all of D1 baseball. Ross struck out 88 batters while only walking 21 and held all opposing hitters to a .240 batting average.

David and Ross will be honored, along with the High School Coaches, Players of the Year, and Hall of Fame Class/DSA Recipients, Dec. 12.
