Jacksonville State football wraps up ‘preseason camp’, turns mindset to week 1 of regular season

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (WBRC) - Officially in the regular season mindset.
That’s what Jacksonville State Football is now focused on after wrapping up their “camp” portion of the preseason.
After their second intrasquad scrimmage, Gamecocks head coach Rich Rodriguez says they’re now focused on Coastal Carolina.
“Some of it has already been started but we have to study them, but more importantly we need to grade this scrimmage and find out who is in our two and three-deep right now,” Rodriguez said.
As the squad prepares for week 1, Rodriguez says that you have to earn everything that you get. ‘Hard Edge’ and ‘Earn Success’ are two terms that you’ll hear a lot if you’re around the team.
“We don’t have a lot of fluffy slogans, just two. Hard Edge, which is more mental than physical, being mentally and physically tough, and Earn Success,” said Rodriguez. “We don’t believe in a sense of entitlement, you earn everything you got. I believe in our guys and they like to work hard and earn it.”
The Gamecocks will begin their season Aug. 29 against Coastal Carolina. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
