BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - The Football Capital of the South was at Greystone Golf & Country Club on Wednesday.
Numerous coaches from around the state and Southeastern Conference participated in the Regions Tradition Pro-Am. The annual event kicks off the senior PGA golf tournament which takes place this weekend.
One of the coaching headliners, Nick Saban, did not participate in the Pro-Am but did talk to and take pictures with fans while putting on the practice green. Saban is currently recovering from hip replacement surgery.
Other SEC coaches in attendance were Auburn coach Gus Malzahn, Georgia coach Kirby Smart and Ole Miss coach Matt Luke. Former Alabama players Jay Barker and John Parker Wilson played in a foursome with former Auburn players Stan White and Brandon Cox. Bo Jackson also played.
But it wasn’t all football! Auburn basketball coach Bruce Pearl also played in the tournament. Other well-known people including Dr. Condoleeza Rice, Taylor Hicks and former Auburn coach turned politician Tommy Tuberville were at Greystone.
