Community gathers for Aleppo vigil at Railroad Park

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - As the violence continues in Aleppo, a group here in Birmingham want to bring awareness to what's happening in that region.
A crowd made up of college students, community members and religious leader packed Railroad Park to send their message: "We stand with Aleppo."
The group calls the violence of innocent people in Syria a violation of human rights.
Organizer Sarah Afgan says events like these are a way to educate people on what's going in that region.
"We all just felt hopeless seeing the images, we all wanted to do something, so we felt that we felt that a prayer vigil would be the best thing," she said.
The group says they plan to have more rallies soon.
