SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) - The owner of Pihakis Restaurant Group (PRG) is finding himself in more legal and financial trouble as two new lawsuits were filed in Shelby County Tuesday.

According to court documents obtained by WBRC, American Express National Bank is suing both PRG and owner Nick Pihakis directly, claiming hundreds of thousands in unpaid debt.

More than a dozen restaurants under the Pihakis Restaurant Group have closed in the past three weeks, leaving many workers without jobs. Local restaurants and businesses are stepping in to help those impacted by the closures.(WBRC)

The suit against PRG alleges the company owes $80,106.56. The second suit, filed against Pihakis, claims a debt of $172,961.95.

The lawsuits come less than two weeks after a judge in Jefferson County ruled against restaurants connected to PRG in favor of a meat supplier that claimed it had not been paid for deliveries.
