Operation Warmth underway at Cottondale VFW
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WBRC) -Military veterans in Tuscaloosa County have launched Operation Warmth.
It’s happening at the VFW in Cottondale. That’s where former Navy man and VFW commander Walter Turner is collecting coats, blankets, socks and hats to help homeless veterans stay warm this winter. Turner says the VFW is the collection point for winter donations.
“We have several veterans outreach areas in town and some of the ladies that reached out to us about needing blankets, need coats and socks and hats, toiletries because a lot of the veterans they put up in their homes don’t have those kinds of things,” said Turner.
Turner says the VFW in Cottondale is open Wednesday through Sunday from 4 p.m. to around midnight.
