Samford football wraps up 2023 season with Senior Day against UT Martin
Bulldogs look to finish season with a winning record
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Samford football wraps up its season on Saturday hosting No. 13 ranked UT Martin in FCS play.
The Bulldogs won’t be headed to the postseason this time around after a run to the FCS quarterfinals last year, but there’s still much to play for.
Head Coach Chris Hatcher admits it’s been a tough season, but his team is fighting for pride and fighting for a winning record as the Bulldogs sit with a 5-5 record on the year. It’s also Senior Day for Samford as the Bulldogs expect a nice crowd this weekend and the team looks forward to suiting up one last time.
“I’ve been watching a Yogi Berra documentary and he said, ‘It ain’t over ‘til it’s over,’” Samford head football coach Chris Hatcher said. “And one thing about this squad each and every week as I said earlier, they always show up ready to play -- they practice well.”
“The other thing is don’t take it for granted. There’s a lot of guys on our team that this’ll be the last time they put shoulder pads on and a helmet on.”
Samford and UT Martin kick off Saturday at Pete Hanna Stadium at noon.
