JEFFERSON CO., Ala. (WBRC) - Two men were arrested by Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies Friday afternoon after crashing a stolen vehicle during an attempt to elude police.
Deputies were alerted by flock technology of a stolen car in Eastern JeffCo around 12:30 p.m.
When deputies located the vehicle near I-59 NB in Roebuck, they attempted to perform a traffic stop but the driver refused to pull over. The driver attempted to pass a car near exit 166 and struck a large delivery truck. After the crash deputies were able to take the driver, 27-year-old Xavier Wright and passenger, 23-year old Joshua Thomas, into custody.
Both were charged with receiving stolen property. Wright was also charged with a host of other misdemeanors for eluding police. He also has two existing warrants for 1st degree robbery. Thomas also has two existing 1st degree robbery charges, theft of property and other charges.
