Hoover city council approves new residential development in Bluff Park

HOOVER, AL (WBRC) - The Hoover City Council voted 4-2 to clear land for 34 new residential homes in Bluff Park on Monday night.

The council heard from both the public and developers about re-zoning property near Alford Avenue and Tyler Road.

The piece of land is currently used for agricultural purposes, but the landowner now feels it doesn't belong in a residential area.

The idea of a big box retailer was rejected because of traffic concerns.

But some of those traffic issues were presented again on Monday night.

"As with any residential development, neighboring land owners are often concerned with traffic, they're often concerned with the load it will place on their neighborhood schools, and these are the items that the planning and zoning commission and city council will consider," Hoover City Councilor John Lyda said.

Officials have not yet set a time table for the project.
