PINSON, Ala. (WBRC) - The organizers of a Pinson festival that took place each year for the past twenty years are saying the festival has “come to a close.”

According to a Tuesday afternoon Facebook post, the Alabama Butterbean Festival began as a small community gathering, but grew into a beloved annual tradition.

The post was very appreciative of the friends and family who took part in the festival each year, including friends, family, vendors, and visitors.

“Your support, laughter, and love made this festival what it was—and those memories will always be a part of Pinson’s story. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for 20 unforgettable years."

The festival’s Facebook page also posted a press release from the Clay-Pinson Chamber of Commerce.

According to the Clay-Pinson Chamber of Commerce, city leadership decided to withdraw their financial support.

The news release did not mention the festival specifically, but the organization said they were shifting their focus to fundraising initiatives and partnerships that would directly benefit education and first responders in both cities.

“While we are disappointed by the decision from new city leadership to withdraw financial support, we are not discouraged,” said Dean Kirkner, board president. “In fact, this moment has challenged us to become more focused, more independent, and ultimately more impactful.”

“This is about stepping up when it matters,” said Ronnie Dixon, executive director. “If traditional support structures change, we adapt. If doors close, we build new ones.”
