Former Alabama player cut by Kansas City Chiefs following most recent arrest
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WBRC) - The Kansas City Chiefs have cut ties with defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs following multiple offseason charges, according to the National Football League (NFL).
Buggs, entering his sixth season in the NFL, remains in the Tuscaloosa County Jail after being arrested and charged with second-degree domestic violence and second-degree assault on June 16.
In May, Buggs turned himself in to the Tuscaloosa police on animal cruelty charges. He is accused of leaving two dogs in a home in Tuscaloosa for several days without food and water. One of the animals had to be euthanized.
Buggs has denied any wrongdoing in the animal cruelty case.
Buggs was a member of the 2017 National Championship team and selected second-team All-SEC in 2018.
He was selected in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. After spending three seasons there, he was with the Detroit Lions for two years before joining the Chiefs’ practice squad back in January.
