First Alert Weather: Chilly and dry Easter Sunday morning ahead
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - The roadways are mostly likely wet from all the rain today; however, we will continue to dry out tonight and as we head into next week. Tonight, we will have a mostly cloudy sky with chilly temperatures. Temperatures will cool into the upper 40s tonight. The overnight low is expected to be in the low to mid 40s. Winds will come from the east at 10 to 15 mph.
Easter Sunday: The good news is that Easter Sunday will most likely be dry. You’ll need the jacket and maybe some layers to stay warm on Sunday morning, especially if you are heading to church for Easter services. We are forecasting low temperatures to cool into the mid 40s with a partly cloudy sky. More sunshine will be around Sunday afternoon with high temperatures in the mid to upper 60s and a few low 70s are possible. With cooler air filtering in from the easterly winds, the warmest spots will likely be counties west of I-65. Altogether, the weather should be nice for Easter egg hunts outside.
Near-Average Temperatures Early Next Week: The weather is looking mostly dry going into the first half of next week. High pressure will likely keep most of the rainy weather to our south along the Gulf Coast. We are forecasting lows in the 40s and 50s with highs in the upper 60s and lowers 70s next Monday through Tuesday. Temperatures may reach the upper 70s by Wednesday. Models are hinting at an area of low pressure developing along the Gulf Coast by mid-week. The low will likely form from the stalled front that will move through our area today.
Confidence remains low when it comes to the formation of this low and its actual track. If this low develops and pushes northwards, we could see increasing rain chances for the end of next week. As of now, we are forecasting scattered showers to return to the forecast next Thursday and Friday. I am holding 40% chance for showers Thursday and Friday of next week.
