BRIGHTON, AL (WBRC) -

The man shot and killed Saturday night in Brighton has been identified.

The shooting happened around 6:30 p.m., according to Brighton police. Officers responded to a call that shots had been fired on 1400 Clay Street and when they arrived, officers found the victim had been shot.

The victim was identified as Tyshun Tyree Miller, 18, after being taken to UAB Hospital where he later died.

Brighton police said a person of interest turned himself in to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department in Bessemer and was later transported to the Brighton City Jail ,according to Brighton Police Chief Ray Hubbart.

The suspect's name has not been released as police are still investigating.
