Man robbed, killed in East Lake identified as Alabama Power employee

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Police are investigating a homicide in east Birmingham.
Investigators say Tyrone Taylor, 49, of Birmingham, was robbed and killed at Rugby Avenue and 82nd Street South.
Police say a witness to the case may be the stabbing suspect. Police say this witness told them he saw Taylor fighting with two men before the stabbing. Police now say there is evidence that in fact, the witness and the victim were in a struggle before the stabbing and the original story reported by the witness was fabricated.
That witness is now in custody.
A spokesperson for Alabama Power says Taylor worked at the company's Gadsden steam plant
