"Convention of States" organization ramps up for South Dakota state legislative session

The "Convention of States" organization says that they intend to return to the South Dakota State Capitol in Pierre during the 2023 state legislative session, with the hopes of passing a resolution to support a national Convention of States. Previous efforts to pass the resolution in South Dakota have come up short, as recently as last year.
From 9 am to 12:30 pm, a conversation will be had about the state of Black Men in Birmingham and ways to elevate our communities. The goal is to provide long-term solutions to the various issues affecting Black Men and the community overall.The event will include breakout sessions and safe spaces for men to answer the ultimate question…”what is next and how do we fix our communities?”
From 2:00 pm to 6 pm, Young men (Middle & High School Students) are invited for workshops geared towards the next generation of Black Male leaders. Dynamic speakers from across the country will talk with young men about the journey of manhood, cultural identity, leadership, and the importance of education. Breakout sessions/workshops will cover the topics of conflict resolution, mental health/emotional intelligence, professional development/how to tie a tie, and career exploration. Registration is FREE.
