Mountain Brook PD: Chase involving stolen vehicle ends in crash

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL (WBRC) - A chase involving a stolen vehicle ended in a crash Wednesday afternoon, according to Mountain Brook police.

Police say earlier an officer was running radar on Montclair Road and clocked a speeding vehicle coming down Montclair from the Birmingham side.

After the car passed, he got behind it and ran the tag. The tag came back to a stolen vehicle out of Irondale.

The driver took off at a high rate of speed.

The suspect wrecked the car in the 1200 block of Montclair Road, flipping it several times.

The driver of the vehicle ran from the scene. He was caught on Crest Hill Road.

Police recovered two handguns from the vehicle. They're not sure if they belong to the suspect.

Investigators are not releasing suspect information until warrants are signed.

There was a max bus close by but it was not hit.
