FAIRFIELD, AL (WBRC) - Southbound lanes are now open after a wreck that resulted in an 18-wheeler fire on I-20/59 in Fairfield.

No injuries were reported in the fire at the Lloyd Noland Parkway exit, and northbound lanes of the interstate are shut down between the parkway and Valley Road.

Fire crews responded to calls of a truck weaving in and out of traffic around 4 a.m. Witnesses saw the driver jump out of the truck, according to Cpt. Harold Watson with Birmingham Fire and Rescue.

The truck then hit the guardrail.

The female driver, who is a JB Hunt employee, was taken to Brookwood Hospital. She was carrying paper and 500 gallons of diesel fuel at the time of the wreck. Some of the fuel leaked to the street below, according to authorities.

Decon and fire units are below and above the bridge working to contain the fuel.

Crews are now using water on the fire after letting it burn.

Authorities will inspect the bridge for structural damage after the scene is cleared.
