TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) - There's still time to help those recovering from hurricane devastation at a Tuscaloosa community college.

Comfort gifts and other essentials are being collected at Shelton State for a Red Cross drive to help those affected in Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico from recent Hurricanes.

People can pick up cards with specific items to donate in bins and can pen encouraging words to send to the recipients. And it was a fortuitous moment that one person stopped by the drive recently.

"We actually had one guy today pull off a dental card and he said his wife is a hygienist; so he's going to make sure we get all the toothpaste and toothbrushes we possibly could need," said Caroline Smith, a Shelton State American Cross representative.

In case you don't want to shop for items, you can also donate cash. The drive lasts through Nov. 10 at Shelton State Community College.
