Plane makes emergency landing at Birmingham airport due to smoke

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Birmingham police and fire authorities are responding to reports of smoke on a plane at the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport.

Passengers had to wait on the tarmac after an American Airlines plane turned around due to smoke in the cabin of the plane. The flight was headed to Dallas.

Passengers were escorted to the terminal.

Operations are continuing as normal, according to an airport spokeswoman.

No injuries were reported.
