BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - For years, women have turned to cosmetic procedures to help them maintain a more youthful look.

Well, now more men are joining them, hoping "Brotox" will knock off a few years—looks wise.

"A lot of men have told me over the years that they want to do it to be more youthful looking for a competitive job market, for the dating scene, for social media to stay younger looking for their significant other," Dr. Warren Seiler of Seiler Skin in Homewood said.

A 2015 study from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery found the number of men getting Botox injections is up 337 percent since 2000. Seiler is seeing an increase locally in male patients.

"Men care more about their skin now. I think that men know that it's ok to want to look better. It's usually been something that only women care about. Men want to look better too," Seiler said.

Seiler says is a pretty painless procedure. A few injections in a matter of minutes and that's it.

"All it does is helps to relax the muscles so that you can't flex those areas as much. Once men realize that they can do it and it doesn't completely change the way that they look. But it makes nice improvements then they are convinced," Seiler added.

According to Elle magazine, more men are going to "Brotox caves" to get procedures done. We're told these offices are outfitted with giant TVs and sports artwork catered to a male audience.
