HUEYTOWN, AL (WBRC) - Word is spreading quickly around Hueytown.
John Travolta will be in the city for at least three weeks starring in a movie that will be filmed there.
"I read a Facebook post about it today. John Travolta, Oh my goodness! All I could think is Saturday Night Fever and Grease. So I'm really excited," said Brittany Scoggins, the reigning Mrs. Alabama America.
She's a native Hueytown and can't wait.
"I want to meet him. I will be so fangirl over John Travolta," she said gleefully.
Crews will hit the city in early July. Their headquarters will be the old Hueytown High school.
They'll be there until September filming a movie called Trading Paint. It's about a father and son who are in the dirt racing business--the struggles and challenges they face in the changing industry.
"You can't beat Hueytown in a racing movie for sure," said Scoggins.
"I feel it's great. It's so exciting for the Hueytown community and we are looking forward to it," said Monica Lawrence.
She's the owner of Cakes So Delicieux.
There's a good chance she and others could see big benefits from the filming as those connected to the film say they want their lodging, food, props...as much as possible, to be purchased locally.
"I feel like that is going to be great for our community. That's going to be more business to the area and to our shopping center. This is the River Square Plaza and that's going to be great for us," Lawrence said.
