SYLACAUGA, AL (WBRC) - A Sylacauga man battling Stage-4 pancreatic cancer escorted his granddaughter to B.B. Comer Memorial High School's prom.

Scott White was diagnosed in Nov. 2015 and has been fighting ever since.  His spouse, Celia Faye White, says he continues to work at Saiia Construction through chemotherapy and radiation treatments.

"Yes, even though he has Stage-4 pancreatic cancer, he still goes to work every day," she said.

His granddaughter, Kinsey Smith, a senior at B.B. Comer, surprised her grandfather a couple weeks ago by asking him to escort her to the senior prom.

Photos shared by the family show Kinsey wearing a beautiful dress with flowing lace skirt. White looked dapper in a tan sports coat and bootlace cowboy tie with a metal clasp.

A GoFundMe page started by White's brother raised almost a third of the goal.
