TUSCALOOSA COUNTY, AL (WBRC) - West Alabama's family tree of automotive parts suppliers continues growing.
The Truck and Wheel group is building a 127,000 square wheel assembly plant near Vance's Mercedes Benz U-S-I facility.
The $35 million dollar facility will eventually hire 70 to 75 people.
The plant's multi-million dollar robotic equipment will assemble, sequence and balance wheels for just-in-time delivery to automotive production lines.
Tuscaloosa County Probate Judge Hardy McCollum attended a ground breaking for the facility and believes it proves Tuscaloosa County is open for business when it comes to bringing new automotive businesses to the community.
"Anytime that they're bringing and locating suppliers closer to their facility, to me is a really good sign of the industry," Judge McCollum Construction of the facility is expected to be completed in 2018.
