Attalla woman charged with chemical endangerment

ATTALLA, AL (WBRC) - An East Alabama woman has been arrested for chemical endangerment of a child, according to the Etowah County Sheriff's Department.

Ashley Michelle Patterson, 25, of Attalla is charged with chemical endangerment of exposing a child to an environment in which controlled substances are ingested, produced or distributed.

Authorities said Patterson admitted to illegally smoking synthetic weed, also known as Spice, while pregnant, and tested positive for spice and opiates.

She was booked into the Etowah County Detention Center with a $10,000 cash bond for the chemical endangerment warrant.

As a condition of the bond Patterson will be supervised by Etowah County Community Corrections and must successfully complete a treatment program.
